Work at home mom? Tough job!

My son, modeling a crochet hat.
Although this post would probably be better at my other site, Womenpreneurs, I think that as a mom, and I know many moms read this blog, I’m placing it here. When I was working, I always thought how easy it was for the at home mom to get things done – of course, she’s home all day, right? Well, I’ve been an at home mom for about five years now, and a work at home mom for three, and I tell you honestly, this is really HARD! Keeping one little one entertained, doing housework, keeping an eye on the clock to be sure about lunchtime and naptime, plus finding a bit of time for self-grooming, is an art to be mastered.
Certainly, I have about six hours in which to get housework and the like done, and believe me, with three children, there is a LOT of housework to be done. Right now, as I type, I have my back to a sink full of dishes. Hmm. Why is the sink full of dishes, goddess, don’t you have a dishwasher? Of course I have a dishwasher – full of clean dishes.
I am certainly not complaining about being a work at home mom – believe me, I’d rather do this than rush to work, stay there all day, then rush home, pick up littluns, cook dinner, do homework, make lunches, iron clothes – the list seems to never end. BUT – the point is, and as you know by now, I do often digress – the point is, I have the opportunity to be at home with my children and shape their lives as I see fit.
For those of you who are new to my blog, I am at at home mom of three little ones. Before I became an at home mom, I was an educator and teacher trainer, which I enjoyed very much. But I knew once I had children, I couldn’t give 100 percent at my job as a teacher and 100 percent at home. (Certainly, I could, but I’d be one frazzled human being, that’s for sure.) So, I took a deep breath, and stepped into the role of full time mommy.
As for my business, I am the proud owner of two enterprises – neosoul.essentials, which is natural shea butter products as well as crochet accessories over at Raspberry Crochet. It’s a lot of work, and I’ve been doing more work offline than off, but either way, those of us who are work at home moms know that it takes a lot of time.
Speaking of time, I’d better sign off now – I see my timer (which I set for my tasks) is quickly counting down to reading time. Thanks for visiting, and be sure to take a look around while you’re here!
